The Political Economy department of the Economics faculty of TSU - is 115 years old (Its current name is the Department of General and Applied Economy)
The article is devoted to the development of the Political Economy department of the Economics Faculty of Tomsk State University (TSU). Nowadays the department is called the department of General and Applied Economy which is regarded as the founder of economic education, scientific schools and their modernization both at the University and far beyond it including Tomsk itself, the areas and regions of Western and Eastern Siberia. The article highlights the main periods in the activity of the department which have been complicated, contradictory and even tragic. These periods are as follows: - prerevolutionary period; - Soviet period; - market economy period.
