About identification of "Reina Regente's" wreck

The paper gives the analysis of the availabledata related to the identity found in the vicinity of cape Trafalgar the submerged wreck, supposedly owned by cruiser «Reina Regente».Describes briefly the history of sandalwood in the Ministry of defence of Spain summer of 2009, associated with the cruiser. It is recognizedthat the photo of sinking cruiser, published in the monograph (Mitiuckov N.W. Protected cruisers «Reina Regente» class. M., 2006), takenfrom the magazine «Podvodny Klub» in fact do not belong to the «Reina Regente». Presents a history of the expedition the summer of 2002?held with the participation of «Russian underwater society» (RUS), drawn up on the basis of published data and survey participants. There isa description of a single video- certificate - film, the Spanish divers during the second dive on the object. Published the most interesting shotsof the film. As the depth of the object's location was significantly higher than established norms PADI 40 m, and special deep-water equipmentfor the expedition was not, had to limit myself to two short-term recognizing diving, and to behave at a depth of very carefully. Duringthe first dive movie not a success, but during the second divers stayed at the bottom of about 15 minutes. During this time, they inspected notmore than 20 m housing in length. As the wreck is destroyed, say for certain that he belongs to the «Reina Regente» it is impossible. Notrecorded on the tape and find that you can definitely associate with the cruiser. If to assume, that divers were on the cruiser, the more likelythey produced it in the stern platform, where there were 240-mm guns, but there are no traces of any of the guns, nor any of their supports. Thus, there is a needing into re-expedition to the object. The water temperature in the area of not more than 17 °C, visibility of 10 to 15 m,and given the strong underwater currents, it is possible to assert, that the preparation to dive requires lengthy preparation. Housing is availablefor the dive just read the some days in the year. In addition, the cruiser is considered the Spanish side as the military burial, which alsoimposes difficulties of a legislative nature. In order to prevent the looting of «black archeologists», its coordinates are kept in secret. Conclusions.1. To the present time we cannot say with 100%-probability, nor deny, that was found at the cape Trafalgar wreck belongs to the «ReinaRegente». 2. The thesis that «the russians found Spanish cruiser» should be reviewed, because of the eight divers, who visited on a submergedobject only three of them - the citizens of Russia, is another matter that the first message on the finding of the published Russianmagazine «Podvodny Klub».
