Typological transformations in the press of a "closed" town (Novoye Vremya, Seversk, a closed administrative territorial unit)

In the early 1990s, in one of the atomic cities of Russia - Seversk (Tomsk Oblast), which was previously in an information blockade in connection with the secrecy of the regime - the first city newspapers Dialog and Novoye Vremya appeared. The founders of the newspaper Novoye Vremya are the large enterprises of the city: the Siberian Chemical Combine and the construction company Khiimstroy, as well as the political organizations of the CPSU City Committee and the Komsomol City Committee. Using the example of the newspaper Novoye Vremya, the authors consider the transformation of the city newspaper, which existed from 1990 to 2006, into a corporate edition, and the change of its typological characteristics during this transformation. In terms of the production technology of the newspaper, two periods stand out: the period of letterpress printing from 1990 to 1996, the period of offset printing from 1996 to the present. It is noted that at the initial stage of the newspaper existence, the use of letterpress printing made it possible to reduce the expenses of the founders, since the printing house belonged to one of them, and also to attract specialists to the newspaper by inviting them to produce newspaper using a rare technology. But due to the fact that the possibilities of letterpress printing in the quality and design of the newspaper were limited, by 1996 the editorial staff and the founders decided to switch to offset printing, which made it possible to use color photographs, full-color printing, and various types of paper for publishing the newspaper. In terms of the content-thematic model of the newspaper, one can note a direct connection between the composition of the founders of the newspaper and the organization of its materials. In the history of the newspaper, there are four main stages: 1991-1993, the founders include the Siberian Chemical Combine, the construction company Khim-stroy, the political organization of the Komsomol (later the city organization of the Russian Union of Youth); 1994-2002, the construction companies Prommekhanomon-tazh and MSU-107 (later Spetsteplokhimmontazh) joined the original founders; 20032004, the construction companies Khimstroy, Prommekhanomontazh and Spetstep-lohimmontazh, as well as the city organization of the Russian Union of Youth, were excluded from the founders; 2005 - to the present, the only founder of the newspaper is the Siberian Chemical Combine. The main type-forming characteristic of the periodical is its publishing body - the founder. On the example of the newspaper Novoye Vremya, the authors consider how a city newspaper, which during the periods of numerous founders was a newspaper "about everything and for everybody", turns into a corporate edition of one founder, how the change in the composition of the founders affects the content-thematic model and design of the newspaper.
