The Theme of the Purity of the Russian Language and the Preservation of the Language Heritage in the "Third Wave" of Russian Emigration Authors' Opinion Journalism

The article is devoted to the analysis of the scientific and journalistic creativity of the authors of the Russian diaspora who wrote about the purity of the Russian language in the abandoned USSR and about the problems of preserving the language heritage. Representatives of the "third wave" of Russian emigration stressed that the Russian language is the cultural and historical foundation of the nation, so it is important to preserve its purity. Writers and journalists realized that the processes taking place in the Russian-Soviet vocabulary and grammar could significantly shake the cultural and historical foundation of the nation. In the USSR, Russian was the main and only language of the interethnic communication of the Soviet people. Over the course of the decades of the USSR's existence, there had certainly been changes at the vocabulary level, as well as in the syntax. Public figures, writers, opinion journalists, publishers and journalists who left Soviet Russia in the second half of the 20th century eagerly discussed and expressed their position on the problems of the communist ideology's influence on the Russian language. Many regretted the irreversible processes of transformation of the living language into a frozen speech full of Soviet cliches. Journalists claimed that the literary opposition had completely disappeared, and it was extremely necessary for the Russian language. However, the natural response to the process was numerous jokes, chastooshkas, criminals' songs of low quality. The "third wave" of Russian emigration was often called "ethnic", since, after the 1970s, a stream of people leaving for Jewish visas rushed from the USSR. They wrote about the absorption and the destruction of old ties with former Soviet Russian-speaking citizens of Jewish nationality. The authors of the Russian abroad of the second half of the 20th century were concerned with the problems of preserving the purity and uniqueness of the Russian language. Emigrant philologists and opinion journalists studied with interest the processes that took place in the Russian language system under the conditions of the Soviet state. They wrote with regret about the facts of distorting the language through the mass introduction of Soviet clericalism, bureaucracy, and noted the impoverishment of the primordially Russian layer of the vocabulary. Many authors of the Russian abroad proposed concrete measures for the development and preservation of the Russian language, and also saw their mission in expanding the cultural space of the Russian language.
