THE EXPERIMENT OF DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF ‘FUNDAMENTALS OF METROLOGY, STANDARDIZATION, CERTIFICATION AND QUALITY CONTROL’ COURSE FOR E-LEARNING SYSTEM
‘Moodle’ (modular object-oriented dynamic learning environment) has been used at the university since 2009 as a platform for creation and development of e-learning system (ELS), which represents an open learning management system, focused on interactive activity between teachers and students. Nowadays the use of distance education technology makes it possible to study without dropping work, leaving family, from any place a person lives and is a convenient tool for remote access to the source of knowledge. This form of learning enables to include all the required academic material for students in education environment of the Internet. Users receive twenty-four-hour access to the information resources of the portal right after registration. Today the site of distance learning of NSUACE (Sibstrin) presents more than fifty electronic courses for ‘Construction’, ‘Management’, ‘Economics’ for students of correspondence, evening and daytime forms of learning. Information resources of courses are primarily aimed at the students of correspondence form. The university Internet-portal provides the necessary educational material in different formats in one place, thereby improving academic support for students’ self-study and, ultimately, their self-control. The course ‘Fundamentals of metrology, standardization, certification and quality control» (FMSCQC) was one of the first electronic versions of the Internet-portal. It actually generated testing of the platform ‘Moodle’ and search of most suitable patterns of electronic educational complex. The cumulative experience of using distance technology for working with students on this academic subject allowed us to draw conclusions about the sufficient efficiency of e-learning implemented elements in traditional educational process. Currently, the system of distance learning of NSUACE (Sibstrin) is an effective information resource that supports the students’ educational process. There is no doubt that it can not replace completely the classroom work and should be used just as a platform for organization of students’ independent work and remote interaction with the teacher. However, the NSUACE (Sibstrin) distance learning system has a number of advantages in comparison with traditional classroom work.
