Socializing functions of the Internet in the open education system

The article deals with the socializing functions which are typical for new forms of Internet socialization: social, expert networks, cloud technology resources, online forums, chat rooms, electronic scientific video conferences, and electronic libraries. The issue of socialization has been investigated concerning social needs of users, among which communication in social networks, education, including remote online games, information search, hobbies, music and the like play an important role. The specific analysis provides the possibility for using new forms of socialization: organizing the working groups’ interaction, discussing working issues, organizing pedagogical communities and communities of students, joint planning of educational content, creating electronic educational resources, managing the educational process, organizing educational video conferences, searching, storing, transmitting information, exchanging experience, supporting the administrative and economic tasks of the educational process. On the basis of new forms of socialization, the interaction of Internet users and the process of socialization in the system of open education are analyzed. The following socializing functions are of special attention: the function of activating new forms of Internet socialization, the function of self-organization, the function of self-development, the communication, integration and information functions. We study an Internet portal for graduates and undergraduates. This portal has implemented a different functionality of the Internet environment for new forms of Internet socialization. The socializing functions that exist on this portal in the system of open education are considered. Information function is related to obtaining information about innovations, competitions, grants, exhibitions. The integrative function is associated with the joint implementation of the project, the organization of teamwork; the communication function is presented in the form of the possibility of communication in forums, discussions, preparation of publications. The function of self-development is connected with the understanding of the need to study a new material, introspection, the implementation of goals and objectives. Undergraduates and graduate students in the learning process perform various tasks using social, expert networks, cloud technology resources, online forums, chat rooms, electronic scientific video conferencing, and electronic libraries. The self-organization function is implemented in project activities, in collective creative work and other types of independent activities. The portal provides an opportunity for undergraduates and graduate students to interact with the professional community of other universities. Presented socializing function in the system of open education, one way or another, intertwined with other functions, can alter the content of each other.
