Peculiar properties of mass transfer in irradiated materials

Dissipation of the kinetic energy of accelerated charged particles as they move through the material leads to the formation of the substance’s reaction to external radiative forcing, which, in turn, can significantly affect the kinetics of mass transfer processes. In this article, the authors for the first time consider the effect of electron fluxes and nonequilibrium phonons formed in the field of temperature gradient on the migration of defects. The heating temperature in the vicinity of the track, the temperature gradient, the forces acting on interstitial atoms and their corresponding displacements were estimated.
