Studying the dynamics of the cathode sheath after current zero moment using a two-dimensional system of langmuir probes
A two-dimensional system of Langmuir miniature probes operating in the electron saturation current mode is proposed. Using such system allows to investigate the spatial distribution of plasma density near the discharge gap and the dynamics of the expansion of the “cathode-plasma” sheath after the passage of a high-current vacuum-arc discharge through current zero are investigated. The proposed methodology and the data obtained are relevant for the study of the processes of current interruption in vacuum circuit breakers.
