Thin plasma jet formation in open atmospheric discharge by electro-field mechanism
Experimental and theoretical studies of a repetitively pulsed discharge in the form of a thin plasma jet (so called as apokamp) have been carried out. It is shown for stable apokamp formation requires the presence of a small external electric field is necessary, which is amplified near the head of growing streamer due to the high conductivity of the plasma track. It was experimentally shown that the apokamp formation is initiated by an external electric field with a strength of ~ 1 kV / cm.
