Frequency characteristics of subnanosecond plasma switch
The frequency characteristics study results of the subnanosecond plasma switch based on the discharges combination of an “open” discharge / discharge in a hollow cathode and a capillary discharge removed from the inner plasma cathode cavity are presented. It is shown that with different designs of a plasma cathode and a capillary section, if there is an external screen that provides a capacitive discharge and, accordingly, exclusion of the period of weak electron multiplication in the capillary from the delay mechanism of the discharge development, high pulse repetition frequency is provided. It was demonstrated that, at a voltage of U = 30 kV, a pulse repetition frequency f = 100 kHz is reached for a capillary with a round cross section at p He ≤ 2.6 Torr and for a slit at p He ≤ 3.5 Torr.
