Β-BBO, LBO, AND KTP NONLINEAR CRYSTALS AS A SOURCE OF THE MILLIMETER-WAVES RADIATION

We present the refractive indices and absorption coefficients of nonlinear-optical crystals β-BBO, LBO, and KTP measured in the range of 0.5-3 mm at temperatures of 298 and 78 K. The absorption coefficients of all crystals at 1 mm do not exceed 3.5 cm-1 and fall with cooling. The anisotropy of the absorption coefficients of crystals increases significantly with a decrease in the wavelength (<1 mm), while at wavelengths >2 mm, it almost disappears. The absolute values of the absorption coefficients fall with the cooling to a level below 0.2 cm-1. Based on measured refractive indices, a numerical simulation of the collinear phase-matching curves was carried out. We demonstrate the theoretical possibility of IR laser radiation (1.064 mm) conversion into the millimeter-waves range.
