The investigation of hydrogen transport through niobium membranes with a modifying coating based on palladium nanocrystallites

A method for obtaining a modifying nanocrystalline coating for gas diffusion Pd-Nb-Pd membranes has been developed. The modifying coating in the form of palladium nanocrystallites was synthesized by electrochemical deposition. The hydrogen flux density through the modified Pd-Nb-Pd membranes reaches a value of 0.024 mol / s ∙ m2 in the gauge pressure range at an optimal operating temperature of 300 ° C. The obtained value for membranes modified with a nanostructured coating is 1.6 times higher than for a similar membranes without a modifying layer. It has been experimentally confirmed that modification of the membrane surface with a nanostructured coating increases the rate of hydrogen transfer through Pd-Nb-Pd membranes due to the acceleration of dissociative-associative processes on the surface.
