Regularities of microstructure and crystallographic texture in silicon iron (Fe - 3 % Si) at the torsion under high pressure

By methods of EBSD, X-ray analysis, instantaneous fixation of EMF, measurements of microhardness and coercive force the patterns of the microstructure, crystallographic texture and physical and mechanical properties evolution of silicon iron (Fe - 3 % Si) at the torsion under high quasi-hydrostatic pressure in Bridgman chamber was studied. It was established that the deformation is accompanied by a significant hardening of the alloy. It is shown that the average grain size in the torsion plane drops sharply to 185 nm after 1/4 turn of the movable anvil, and then gradually decreases to 150 nm with an increase in the number of revolutions to 6. At the same time, the average size of subgrains is characterized by a weaker dependence on the deformation degree. The features of the evolution of the crystallographic texture consist in the formation of a strong component {001}<110> after relatively small values of severe deformation followed by the formation of a simple shear texture. The established patterns can be correctly described within the laws of nonequilibrium thermodynamics.
