Electrical explosion of wires for producing bimetallic Ti-Ag and Fe-Ag nanoparticles with antibacterial activity
The Ti-Ag and Fe-Ag bimetallic nanoparticles were obtained by the electric explosion of two wires in argon atmosphere. The metal mass ratio in percent was 76-24 for Ti-Ag and 75-25 for Fe-Ag . Nanoparticles are characterized by X-ray analysis, transmission electron microscopy, thermal desorption of nitrogen and microelectrophoresis. The synthesized nanoparticles have the Janus particle morphology with distinct separation of components inside the particle. They form aggregates and solid agglomerates in nanopowders with silver “necks”. The nanoparticles have negative charge and disaggregated by the ultrasound. The water-souble polymers were modifies by those nanoparticles. The stable gel-like composites were formed. The composites were found to exhibit high antibacterial activity gainst methicillin-resistant MRSA strain comparable with that of Ag nanoparticles.
