Electric double layer of helium discharge in modulation regime
In the modulation mode, a positive column of helium gas discharge has been investigated. It has been revealed that the population of stepwise ionization in the 31D2 level is not high due to the population of the metastable levels is weak at the low values of the discharge current. With increasing of the discharge current, the metastable population and the modulation depth of the intensities of the spectral lines increases owing to the modulation of metastable levels. However, as increasing the current at high discharge current, the modulation depth of the intensities of the spectral lines decreases as the population of metastable levels reaches saturation case.
