Modification of metal surface with organic compounds under the action of a nanosecond electron beam
The paper deals with a development of methods for changing the surface properties of metals under the action of an electron beam on organic liquids in the near-surface metal layer. Metacrylic acid, tetraethoxysilane (TES) and hexamethyldisiloxane (HMDS) were used as metal surface modifier. Parameters of pulsed high-current electron accelerator were as follows: kinetic electron energy 90 keV, beam current density 65 A/cm2. An analysis of the IR spectra after irradiation of the metal surface with an electron beam in the presence of methacrylic acid, TES and HMDS leads to the fixation of organic compounds on these surfaces.
