Sorption features of silver nanoparticles on biodegradable and non-degradable fibers
A comparative assessment of the activity processes of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) sorption on the surface of biodegradable (absorbable) and non-degradable (non-absorbable) suture fibers has been performed. The predominance of the desorption process from the surface of both types of fibers observed during the first days of fiber incubation in gels with AgNPs was revealed. At the same time, a pronounced sorption process on the surface of the non-absorbable Polyester filament was observed during 24 hours when it was incubated in the Argogel silver nanoparticle preparation and the Dexon absorbable material upon exposure to a gel composition containing ex temporo synthesized AgNPs. The observed differences are due to both the physicochemical features of the surface of the threads and depend on the size range of the used silver nanoparticles.
