Density and electrical resistivity of Al86Ni6Co2R6 (R = Nd, Gd, Yb) alloys in crystalline and liquid states
Al-based amorphous and nano-crystalline alloys, especially compositions with transition and rare-earth metals, actively studied due to their high mechanical and corrosion properties. In present work thermophysical properties (density and electrical resistivity) of Al86Ni6Co2R6 (R = Nd, Gd, Yb) glass-forming alloys were investigated in wide temperature range include liquid state. It is found that the alloys have practically linear temperature dependencies of density and electrical resistivity, which is typical for Al-based compositions. It is shown that the investigated compositions characterized wide two-phase zone and the transition to liquid state accompanied by untypical increase of density and drop in electrical resistivity at liquidus. In first time is found that overheating of the alloys up to T = 1350 K to density hysteresis. This fact can indicate the decay of large-scale inhomogeneities in melts.
