The study of microhardness of the surface of iodine-polyvinyl alcohol polarizers at different iodine treatment times
The article investigates the effect of iodization time on the microhardness of the surface of iodine-polyvinyl alcohol polarizers. The influence of different iodization intervals (30, 60, 90, and 120 s) on the mechanical properties of polymer films made from an 8% aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol was studied. During the experiments, the microhardness of the samples was measured using the Vickers method under different loads. It was found that the maximum microhardness of iodine-polyvinyl alcohol polarizers is achieved with iodization times of 60 and 90 s, while shorter (30 s) and longer (120 s) intervals lead to a decrease in microhardness due to the changes in the structure of the polymer matrix.
