Influence of pore structure on elastic characteristics of NiTi alloys produced by SHS method
The influence of pore structure on the mechanical properties of NiTi alloys obtained by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) is considered. Preheating temperatures of the reacting Ni and Ti mixture ranged from 668 to 788 K. The dependence of Young's modulus on the porosity of the resulting NiTi alloys is investigated. It is shown that varying the initial temperature of the reacting powder mixture leads to changes in the structural-phase composition and pore structure characteristics of NiTi after SHS. NiTi alloys obtained under these conditions have reduced elastic moduli and pore systems with volume porosity from 58 to 63%.
