Academician V.E. Zuev and the development of Russian Universities during the Soviet and post-Soviet period
The life of academician V.E. Zuev is examined in the article. His personal qualities formed by his work and war experience, his difficult student youth, largely determined his high adaptability in the complex system of Soviet science. The creation, with his decisive participation, of an alternative to the university - academic science center in Tomsk was motivated by the imbalances and asymmetries that had been developing in the science of the USSR since the 1920s. It is significant, that the skills of science management of post-Soviet science were formed in the depths of Soviet reality. These skills allowed V.E. Zuev to maintain the status of the patriarch of Tomsk academic science in the 1990s. The academician largely determined the structure of the university-academic center in Tomsk that remains today, an integral part of which is the alliance of local institutes of the Academy of Sciences and Tomsk State University.
