On the Dictionary of Synonyms of the Siberian Dialect
The article considers The Dictionary of Synonyms of the Siberian dialect. After a short introduction, the author tells about the creation of a series of Vershininsky dictionaries: explanatory, variability, antonymous, a two-volume motivational dictionary, a metaphor dictionary, a four-volume complete explanatory dictionary reflecting the speech of a typical Vershininsky dialect speaker, Vera Prokofyevna Vershinina. These dictionaries are the basis of the dictionary of synonyms collected for sixty years and consisting of thousands of lexical and phraseological units on different topics. The typewritten version of the dictionary, from the preface to the list of entries, covers more than 2,500 pages. The compilers of The Dictionary of Synonyms of the Siberian dialect are O.I. Blinova, M.E. Gavar (Gaysina), M.A. Tolstova; it is edited by O.I. Blinova. The type of the dictionary is: a) complete b) explanatory, c) systemic, d) synchronic, e) polyaspect, f) one-dialect, g) old-resident. The aim of the dictionary is to represent dialect synonymy as a phenomenon with all its characteristics. The content of the dictionary is of the traditional type. It includes absolute synonyms, or doublets, relative, or semantic, and expressive-stylistic synonyms. Synonym selection criteria in the dictionary are: 1) semantic, taking into account the identity of the meaning of units in the text; 2) metalinguistic, reflected on the metalinguistic consciousness features of dialect speakers; 3) functional, conditioned by the co-occurrence of linguistic units in texts and / or metatexts in different functions. The structure of the entry consists of three zones. The header contains components of a series of synonyms and the series name. The interpretive zone (first introduced) includes all the components of the header, arranges them in a column and lists characteristics of each component with marks. The article presents several samples of the entry in a reduced version: ROMASHKA, SENOKOSNIK, VOROZHEYKA; MOROSIT', BUSIT', and others. The main part of the dictionary is supplemented with lists of abbreviations and symbols: semasiological, cultural, functional, lexicological, etc.; of dictionary materials and sources: articles and dictionaries that are published (the References part) and unpublished (including course and final papers by A.S. Andreeva, A.S. Andrukhiv, M.E. Gava, E.A. Savicheva, M.A. Tolstova, materials of TSU dialectological expeditions in the villages of the Middle Ob (1964-2006), materials of TSU dialectological internshipa (2005-2007) and of the dictionary compilers' catalogs). The dictionary ends with a list of synonym series in the volume of 500 pages and 830 series.
