Russian poetry in the German anthologies of the 2000s-2010s: dynamics of publishing strategies and reader expectations

The acceleration of the communication processes, the dynamics of technical progress are leading to higher interest in the publication of anthologies to date. Anthology of poetry is a particular form of perception and reproduction of the whole concept sphere. In Germany, the publishing of collections is primarily connected with the foreign literary traditions of the German verbal culture. For the period of 2000 to 2010 more than 20 German-language anthologies of Russian poetry were identified, which shows an increase in publishing activity; in Russian book culture in the same period only one anthology of Russian and German poetry Range (2005) was found. It first fully incorporated the works of some Russian and German contemporary poets. In general, the Russian reception of German classical and contemporary poetry is little presented, so that the Russian reader has a very incomplete impression of the processes taking place in German poetry. When analyzing the case of the German-language anthologies, two orientations of publishers were exposed: introduction to contemporary authors and trends is organizing for the German anthologists, and orientation on a general reader, sufficiently competent and interested. Criteria for classification of foreign anthologies of poetry are: bilateral / poly-lateral anthologies, bilingual/monolingual representation of text in an anthology, strategies in the choice of translation. With the system approach to anthologies, an important role is played by the figure of the compiler / compilers, because a context performs a special role in the anthology. German anthologists introduce Russian poets and marginals in a different way to national literary traditions. A significant group of thematic editions are highlighted among German anthologies, five of which are devoted only to Russian poetry, which indicates a high level of the publisher's knowledge of the material and the background knowledge of the reader. Reader's interest in Russian poetry is continuously supported by philology specialists in forms of special editions of anthologies (F.F. Ingold and A. Nitzberg), and cultural and social events, e.g., the project "Russian-German Cultural Meetings 2003-2004". Overall, German book publishing is a wealthy material for reflection and study of the reception of Russian poetry in German-language anthologies intended for foreign readers. The study of receptive heritage models the author / group of authors on the critical material; academic research representation in anthologies is an interesting area of the Humanities.
