Tomsk in books: the epoch of the blooming complexity

The article is a review of the collective monograph Knizhnaya Kul 'tura Tomska (XIX -nachaloXXveka) [Book Culture of Tomsk (the 19th - early 20th centuries)], published in Tomsk in 2014. The concentration on the local book space allows Tomsk researchers to argue reasonably the well-known idea of "the province lagging behind the center", which, along with the introduction into the academic use of a complex of new materials related to the history of the Tomsk book, provides an opportunity for further understanding of the history of the book business of Siberia and its main representatives: publishers, booksellers and readers.
