Development and implementation of the system design concept of a Russian language textbook for Polish gymnasiums
The article proves the need for a system approach in the design of a new generation textbook as an open dynamic communication system. The authors substantiate the principle of systematicity and propose a methodology for its implementation, modeling the program of the artistic design of an educational edition. The implementation of the model is shown on the joint publishing project of a Russian language textbook for Polish gymnasiums. The preliminary analysis carried out by an expert group of experienced professional editors, designers and art editors showed that already published books do not have a conceptual orientation dictated by the features of a language textbook structure (Russian or foreign, taking into account the comparative grammar of both languages belonging to the Slavic language group), and also do not have the system integrity of artistic and graphic design. System analysis of any object is divided into two stages. The first stage is descriptive; the second stage formalizes this description. Applied to the textbook, one of the tasks of the system approach is the development of a kind of design algorithm. This should be interpreted as a certain system of instructions on how a textbook is designed, on what should be done in terms of design to achieve certain goals. In general, the problem can be formulated, firstly, as the identification of system components, its hierarchical levels, subsystems; secondly, as the identification of system-forming properties, connections and relations between the components and the subsystems. Implemented by the team of specialists from the publishers Drofa (Russia) and WSiP (Poland), the Vremena project won the first prize in the competition of editions of language textbooks for schoolchildren at the annual international book fair in Frankfurt in 2005.
