Situation of perception and language features of its representation in modern journalistic text ("feature" genre, on the material of GEO and GEO Traveller magazines)
The study of the mass media language in general, and language representation of perception in particular, is among the pressing issues of modern linguistics. This is primarily due to the interest in how the person's consciousness forms the idea of reality and conceptualizes the world basing on sensations. Contemporary journalistic text has great potential for the representation of the personality of the author. In journalistic genres various expressive (figurative) linguistic means are used to reflect current events. The author finds such methods of linguistic expressions that allow appealing to the personal experience of the reader, and making a strange phenomenon understandable and accessible. This fact becomes apparent especially in the creation of materials in the "feature" genre. Specific features of the texts in the "feature" genre are dramatic nature and appeal to the stories that cause an emotional response. If for newspapers it is appropriate to use the past tense, a feature story describes events and phenomena in the present. This is necessary to create the "sense of presence", previously characteristic for reporting only. Statements with the meaning of perception representing an individual author attitude play a key role in the semantic organization of the texts under our study. Their structural and semantic organization, along with the functional load, rightfully becomes the subject of linguistic research. The predicative center of perception propositions is verbs with the appropriate semantics. Verbs can be classified by various features: type of perception, active / passive, focused / unfocused, etc. In the analysis of linguistic means of expression of sensory perception in our material we singled out lexical and syntactic units representing all types of sensory perception (visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory and gustatory). A group of propositions including verbalization of complex perception (phenomenon involving several perceptual channels) was marked out. Tactile perception deserves special attention in feature texts. Analysis of the material showed that in the creation of texts of the ''feature'' genre authors actively use linguistic means that reflect different types of sensory perception realizing traditional ways of expressing the predictive component and its distributors (e.g., basic tactile verbs касаться (sweep) and трогать (touch)), and original (metaphorical) ones, which allow to make the text visible, tangible, sounding.
