Electronic applications as a teaching aid for the History of the Book academic discipline
The article describes the practice of creating and using electronic applications for the course "History of the Book" based on the textbook "History of the Book", but not limited to it. The main objective of the presentations is to give additional information clarifying and expanding the topic. Furthermore, presentations provide extensive illustrative material. Such a structure allows using them widely in self-study, which is especially important in the transition from the second to the third educational standard. The article describes the functions of electronic applications in the process of learning: visual revision of the material, compilation of glossaries and chronological tables basing on the data from presentations. To revise the materials students have practical classes at the Department of Rare Books and Manuscripts of the Research Library of Tomsk State University. A modern educational technology of portfolio in the form of clusters is also used. We describe types of presentations-based activities that allow students to develop various competencies (making presentations, web-quests, projects, etc.). We particularly emphasise the interactive and interdisciplinary type of learning.
